Speaker Biographies


Ed Servais has been head coach of the Creighton University baseball program for 13 seasons.

He is the winningest coach in program history. Servais’ tenure as Creighton head coach ranks among the best in the NCAA.  His overall record places him 23rd in the nation in winning percentage among active coaches.

Under Servais’ leadership, Creighton has averaged just over 35 wins per season.  Ed has taken Creighton to four NCAA Tournaments (2005, 2007, 2011 & 2012).  He was the 2014 BIG EAST Coach of the Year.  It was his fifth honor at the Division I level and seventh overall.

Ed resides in Omaha with his wife Anne.  The couple has three adult children: daughter Angela and sons Joe and Michael.  Ed is also the uncle of former Creighton All-American and major league catcher Scott Servais, who now is the manager of the Seattle Mariners.



Ken Smith has 35+ years experience both in field and home office positions.  Prior to starting Ken Smith Sales Training & Consulting, he was Director of Health Product Sales with Assurity Life for over 12 years.   

Ken is considered by many in the life insurance business to be one of the leading experts on critical illness sales in the United States.  He understands firsthand the challenges of the sales profession. He speaks hundreds of times each year to agent groups.



Mark King – North Central DI  is an insurance brokerage office focused on assisting insurance advisors and benefit consultants in designing the right disability insurance solutions for their clients. Mark joined NorthCentral DI in 2008. He heads up the Omaha office with a primary focus on sales in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Mark resides in Omaha and has over 30 years of experience specializing in Life, Disability and Employee Benefit sales.



Ron Lee, JD, CLU, ChFC is Director of Advanced Markets for Mutual of Omaha.  His team collaborates with advisers to provide excellent planning solutions for clients wishing to plan for the succession of their businesses, transfer their estates, or build wealth for a successful retirement.
